One Prayer Devotional:
Day 3 - The Power of Prayer
Nothing of eternal consequence ever happens apart from prayer.
I don’t remember when I first heard that quote, but I know I’ve heard and repeated it numerous times since. More importantly, do I believe it? Do we?
I’m a natural ‘doer’ – ie, I’m quick to respond to a need, a problem, even a crisis, with an answer. It might not be the right answer, but it is an answer, or an action. Rarely do I pray first. That’s a discipline I’m constantly working on, which is where another discipline – the discipline of fasting – comes in. More on that later – but let’s start with the power of prayer.
Someone once said “if you use your talents, you get what you can do; if you use other people’s talents, you get what they can do; but if you pray, you get what GOD can do.” The purpose is that we might see what God wants to do in and through NFC: fulfilling our vision by being the hands of Jesus in Lake Zurich, Lake County, and beyond.
As you pray today, pray for God’s power – His might – to break through whatever strongholds (a Biblical word that has really taken a beating in many circles) are currently at work preventing genuine revival.
